A Legacy in Oklahoma Media
For more than 60 years, the Tyler family has helped shape Oklahoma’s advertising, radio, television and outdoor media landscape.
The Tyler Legacy Begins
Ralph Tyler founded an advertising agency in Oklahoma City, beginning a family legacy in advertising, broadcasting and media that would continue for generations.
A New Era in Oklahoma City Radio
Ralph Tyler began owning and operating KEBC Radio. Under his leadership, the station became a dominant force in Oklahoma City radio ratings for nearly a decade.
Expanding into Outdoor Advertising
The Tyler family entered the outdoor advertising industry with the purchase of a company operating 140 billboards. The acquisition established Tyler Outdoor and expanded the family’s presence across Oklahoma media.
A Shift in Focus
After years of success in the Oklahoma City radio market, KEBC was sold. The Tyler family continued building its outdoor advertising operations and exploring new opportunities for growth.
The Next Generation Takes the Lead
Ralph Tyler sold Tyler Outdoor to his sons, Ty A. Tyler and Tony J. Tyler. Under their leadership, the company acquired several Oklahoma-based outdoor advertising businesses and significantly expanded its reach.
Returning to Broadcasting
The Tyler family expanded back into broadcasting through the acquisition of an FM station in Ada, Oklahoma. The station was moved to Oklahoma City in March 1998, officially launching Tyler Broadcasting Corporation’s presence in the Oklahoma City radio market.
Broadcasting Becomes the Primary Focus
By June 2000, Tyler Outdoor Advertising had grown to more than 3,500 outdoor advertising structures. The company was sold, leaving broadcasting as the Tyler family’s primary focus.
Reentering Outdoor Media
In March 2007, Tyler expanded its media portfolio by purchasing Lamar Advertising’s inventory of bus bench and transit shelter displays.
Growing the Oklahoma City Radio Portfolio
In November 2012, Tyler Media acquired Renda Broadcasting’s Oklahoma City properties, including 92.5 KOMA, 104.1 KMGL and 107.7 KRXO. The acquisition marked another significant period of growth for Tyler Media’s radio operations.
Expanding Across Oklahoma
By August 2013, Tyler had expanded its outdoor advertising presence into the Tulsa and Stillwater markets. Its inventory grew to more than 1,500 displays, including bus benches, transit shelters, digital billboards and highway bulletins.
A Leading Oklahoma Media Company
Today, Tyler Broadcasting owns 12 radio stations and serves as the Univision and Telemundo television affiliate in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
